Week of August 3–9, 2026

Wildfire, floods, and shifting alliances under Mars opposite Lilith and the slow rewiring of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

The sky this week held a striking configuration of harmonious sextiles and trines between the outermost bodies — Uranus in Gemini trining Pluto in Aquarius, Neptune in Aries sextile Pluto at near-exact orb (0.1°), and Uranus sextile Neptune — a rare geometry of structural transformation weaving quietly beneath the surface even as more combustible transits ignited the foreground. This is the deep hydraulics of the age: old orders dissolving (Neptune in Aries), collective power restructuring (Pluto in Aquarius), and sudden ruptures in communication and movement (Uranus in Gemini). It is fitting that this was the week the Mecca Joint Deterrence Agreement was signed between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan — an "Islamic NATO" reshaping the geopolitical architecture of an entire region — while the Strait of Hormuz remained effectively closed on Day 161 of the US-Iran war, rerouting the world's energy flows.

Mars at 26° Gemini in exact opposition to Lilith at 25° Sagittarius (orb 0.6°) sharpened the week's atmosphere of ungovernable fire and provoked violence. Under this transit — the warrior planet facing off with the untamed feminine across the mutable axis of information and belief — the Pacific Northwest crossed into its worst wildfire season in three decades, with 2.7 million acres burned across Oregon and Washington and Washington State escalating to National Preparedness Level 5. Greece and France burned under the same signature, Fuego Volcano tore open six ravines in Guatemala, and Russian missile and drone strikes killed at least 17 in Kyiv while Houthi forces killed 30 Yemeni troops in Marib. Mars in Gemini is fire moving through wind — precisely the meteorology of the Meltemi-driven blazes near Athens and the red-flag winds over eastern Washington.

Jupiter at 8° Leo, still within a 3.9° separating opposition to Pluto in Aquarius, continued to describe the summer's structural tension between concentrated sovereign power and collective pressure. This is the axis under which the Board of Peace envoy met Netanyahu while Israeli strikes continued nightly in Gaza, and under which Iran's Supreme National Security Council issued maximalist new demands even as an Oman-brokered draft moved to final stage. The Sun in Leo trine Saturn retrograde in Aries (applying, 1.6°) offered the week's one clearly constructive current — the disciplined coordination of international firefighting reinforcements, FEMA declarations, evacuation protocols in Guatemala that spared lives the 2018 eruption had not.

The Moon began the week in Aries — igniting, exposing — and it was here that Fuego entered its paroxysmal phase, the Suez earthquake struck, and Kerala's monsoon dead were counted. By midweek she moved through Taurus, squaring Pluto and Jupiter, and the Danube fell to record lows: Hungary's Paks nuclear plant shut down for the first time in 44 years, WWII wrecks surfaced from the drying riverbed, and Italy placed all 27 monitored cities on simultaneous red heat alert — the earth body itself under duress. By Saturday the Moon reached Cancer as Typhoon Dolphin made landfall on Okinawa, the sign's watery domain fully engaged.

Looking ahead, the Uranus–Neptune–Pluto sextile lattice remains active into next week, and Mars continues its passage through late Gemini toward its own square with the Aries points — the fire is not yet spent.
