Mercury conjunction Venus ℞ in Scorpio · Sun opposition Saturn ℞ in Aries

The headline today is Mercury closing in on retrograde Venus in Scorpio, both in Venus's own house of secrets and depth, both in detriment but at least on home ground together. Conversation and desire meet in a key that neither of them really wants to sing in. Expect the kind of exchange where a thought arrives already colored, where what gets said is less interesting than what gets implied, and where someone revisits a subject you thought was closed. Venus retrograde does the revisiting; Mercury is just the voice she borrows.

Behind that, the Sun in Libra is still shaking off its opposition from retrograde Saturn in Aries. Both planets are in fall, but they're in mutual reception by exaltation, which is one of those configurations I used to underrate and now think does real work: two weakened planets propping each other up by treating the other's sign as home. The quarrel of the last few days reads, in retrospect, less like damage and more like a negotiation each party was actually equipped for, even if neither felt it at the time.

Mars in Leo is separating from its opposition to Pluto and applying to a sextile with Uranus. The Pluto piece is the bruise; the Uranus piece is the clever maneuver that gets you out of the room. Fast action favored over sustained pressure.

The Moon is in Leo all day, in the Star mansion, having just passed over Jupiter, who is himself moving unusually fast. That conjunction is already separating by the time most of you read this, but the afterglow is real: a day with some ceremonial brightness to it, well suited to appearances and less suited to the Scorpio undercurrent Mercury and Venus are actually running.
