Planetary Positions · Noon UTC
The Sun and Mercury meet today at three degrees of Virgo, and this is where I want to start, because it isn't the combustion story you'd write if you weren't paying attention. Mercury rules the sign. The Sun is the guest here, received into Mercury's own house, and that reception softens what would otherwise be a hard swallowing of the smaller light. Mercury is fast, at home, in the pink of health — the combustion is technically real and functionally muted. Expect a day where thinking runs slightly ahead of speaking, where a conversation you meant to have briefly becomes the conversation of the afternoon.
The Sun also squares Uranus in Gemini, applying, so somewhere in that Virgo conference a jolt arrives — an interruption, an unexpected correction, a piece of information that reorders the pile. And the Sun-Mercury pair sits opposite the stationary North Node, with the South Node pressed against Regulus at less than half a degree. A royal star at the karmic tail, holding still: something about pride, station, position is being asked to be released rather than defended. I'd normally hesitate to lean on Regulus, but the exactness and the stationing nodes together make it hard to ignore.
Venus in Libra and Mercury in Virgo, both in their own signs, quietly hold the day's structural integrity while Mars flounders in Cancer and Saturn stumbles retrograde through Aries. The two malefics in fall is worth noting — action and restriction are both awkward instruments today, which is another reason the Mercurial work goes better than the muscular.
Moon in Aquarius in the Girl mansion, good for detailed handwork, sextiling Saturn tightly this morning and separating from an opposition to Jupiter. The Jupiter-Saturn trine hums behind everything, eleven days wide. I'll take it; I won't build the day on it.
