The Sun has just crossed into Virgo but hasn't left Regulus behind — barely a fifth of a degree separates them, with the South Node another whisker beyond. This is the classic Regulus-on-the-cusp configuration the old sources warn about: the lion's heart at the very last moment of its own kingdom, opposite the North Node, releasing something. Whatever crown you've been wearing (professionally, socially, in a particular relationship) is being handed back. The South Node combust here doesn't destroy anything so much as burn off — a kind of quiet abdication. Mercury, also combust and moving fast, applies to the same nodal opposition within two days, so the conversations that formalize the handoff arrive quickly and without much dignity of their own, though the Sun-Mercury mutual reception by domicile means the messenger is at least speaking on the king's behalf.

Venus, meanwhile, is doing entirely her own work. At home in Libra and opposing Saturn in his fall, she's the stronger party by a wide margin — and Saturn receives her by exaltation, so the opposition is more a negotiation than a rebuke. Expect a difficult but usable conversation about a commitment, a contract, an aesthetic standard someone wants to hold you to. She has the authority to set terms.

The Moon in Capricorn is in detriment but locked into mixed reception with Mars in Cancer, which is how these two weak placements manage to function at all — each borrowing the other's house keys. The Moon-Mars opposition clears by afternoon; the friction is real but short. Basket mansion suits the day's underlying task, which is sorting: what stays, what scatters.

The Jupiter–Saturn trine tightening in the background is the more interesting long story, but it isn't today's story. Today is Regulus letting go, and Venus holding her ground.
