Planetary Positions · Noon UTC
The headline today is Venus opposing Saturn from Libra to Aries, applying, and I want to spend a moment on it because the textbook reading — Venus afflicted, love strained, contracts pinched — is not quite what's on offer. Venus is in her own domicile, and Saturn, though retrograde and in his fall, receives her by exaltation. So the two planets are talking to each other rather than past each other. The opposition still bites: something has to be weighed, agreed to, refused, or reworked. But the reception means the refusal is not a slammed door. Someone senior, or someone acting in a senior register, gives Venus more room than the geometry alone would predict. Venus is also just past a sextile to Jupiter under the beams — a small assist, quietly given.
Mercury separating from a trine to that same Saturn adds a useful footnote: whatever was said or written in the last day or so is likely to hold up. Fast Mercury means it was said quickly, but the trine steadies it.
Mars square Neptune is separating and I'd normally let that pass, except Mars is in fall in Cancer and in mutual reception with the Moon in Scorpio — so Mars is functioning better than his dignity suggests, and the Neptune square is the residue of a confusion already being cleaned up rather than one arriving. The Scorpio Moon in the Root mansion suits foundation work, oddly enough, despite her fall; the reception with Mars is doing real labor here.
The South Node sits on Regulus, exact within a third of a degree and combust. A royal star at the tail of the nodes, burned by the Sun it rules — some public figure or public self is being quietly released from a throne this week. The outer planets are humming in the background. I'll leave them humming.
